Njombe Project
Avocado Sourcing, Packing & Export – Njombe to Dar es Salaam & Abroad
Project Overview:
FarmFinest has launched a fully-integrated fresh avocado value chain project, rooted in the Njombe region and extending to Mafinga, Dar es Salaam, and international markets. This initiative leverages our COPRA license to source, pack, and distribute avocados both locally and abroad.
Sourcing & Community Engagement: Working with organized farmer groups and community cooperative unions, our field assistants identify and procure export-grade avocados directly from farms in Njombe. The program emphasizes fair trade, post-harvest training, and traceability to ensure quality and sustainability.
Packing & Storage Facility – Mafinga: All collected avocados are brought to our dedicated storage and packing facility in Mafinga, where they are sorted, graded, and packed under strict quality controls. The facility operates with a skilled team and cold chain logistics to preserve freshness and meet international export standards.
Distribution Channels:
- Local markets in Dar es Salaam through retailers and fresh produce outlets.
- Export markets in Europe and the Middle East, using certified freight partners.
Key Differentiator:
We ensure that the same high-quality produce destined for international markets is also made available to local Tanzanian consumers, reflecting our values of fairness, transparency, and product consistency.
Impact:
- Empowered over 1,200 smallholder avocado farmers with direct market access.
- Created local employment through storage, logistics, and processing.
- Increased regional recognition for Njombe’s avocado potential.
- Strengthened Tanzania’s export profile in fresh horticultural produce.
